(4065) Meinel is an S-type asteroid of the Flora family native to the Main Belt. It was discovered on September 24, 1960 at Palomar Observatory by Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels.[1][2] The first one to sight Meinel was Rainbow Observatory near Coonabarabran on August 14, 1953.[3][4]
The asteroid is named in honour of the American physicist and astronomer Aden Meinel.
